COMPANY > HISTORY

Huguenin-Sandoz has been mastering the specific knowledge of metal-working for many years.

1923

The company was founded by Charles Huguenin, then director of Technicum in Le Locle. The private industrial company based in Neuchâtel worked on engraving bridges (parts used in watch making). Orders issued from the watchmaking industry quickly evolved into a demand for engraving window-plates used for displaying watches at points of sale.

1973

The company became a public limited company and branched out into jewellery. It became a wholesaler for gold and silver jewellery from France, Germany and Italy. Huguenin-Sandoz also manufactured its own costume jewellery in brass: pendants, rings and even sporting medals. This new field of activity represented 60% of the company's turnover, compared to 40% for watchmaking.

1994

The company moved to new premises in Colombier to keep up with its growth.

1995

The company decided to bring its jewellery business to a halt in order to specialise in producing metallic merchandising articles. The market was essentially focused on watchmaking.

Today

Huguenin-Sandoz is moving into new high-end market segments, while simultaneously seeking to strengthen its leading position in the watchmaking sector. The company is increasingly working to personalise standard products and manufacture customised articles. By diversifying its portfolio of customers, the company is also broadening its product range. The challenge for Huguenin-Sandoz is to find technical and industrial solutions to meet specific customer demands.

Industrial companies wishing to sub-contract activities such as polishing, silk-screen printing, engraving, CNC cutting, painting and galvanic treatment can call on Huguenin-Sandoz. Indeed, these crafts are those that the company masters to create its own products.
